If the Korean cinema renaissance has mastered the art of the thriller, than the Japanese “anime” masters have perfected the art of animation. Few Hollywood animation features have substantially and succinctly captured the mature and contemplative themes so beautifully realized by films like these. ( Note: I can’t find a single 2D Disney film that really caught me enough to add by itself. Perhaps I’ll make a separate list for that…)
